Jeff Larner

Jeffrey Larner is Founder-CEO of Larner Security & Risk Solutions which focuses on helping organizations mitigate a wide range of global security risks and threats.

Retired in 2019 as Vice President, Global Security & Corporate Services, for Food Processing/Agribusiness giant, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Jeff was the senior security executive and led the global security function with responsibility for all strategies and initiatives related to security and risk mitigation across the enterprise. Jeff was also responsible for the global property management team, fleet and administrative services, managing collectives budgets of $20M. Jeff began his career with ADM in 1997 and ultimately served as Deputy Director Corporate Security until 2010.

At that time, Jeff was recruited to join Peabody Energy in St. Louis as Vice President and Chief Security Officer, where he designed and built a vibrant global security function from the ground up. While there, Jeff was an integral part of the HSS&E committee which presented regularly to the board of directors and his team earned a #2 ranking in Security Magazine as a top 500 security function in the Utilities/Energy sector.

In 2014, he returned to ADM to restructure and rebuild the global security function into a world-class organization; as a result, his team was recognized and ranked #1 in Security Magazine’s Top 500 rankings in the Agriculture/Farming/Food Manufacturing sector, four of five years.

Jeff’s 25 years of executive experience in leading and directing successful global security functions include supporting and working with local, state, federal and international law enforcement agencies in response to risks to the organization and employees. Jeff’s teams were recognized for implementing company response measures to several natural disasters/emergencies on both a domestic and international level.

Jeff is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and spent more than 10 years in law enforcement, graduating from the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and University of Louisville’s Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Justice from the University of Illinois Springfield, is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management Senior Executive Leadership Program and Georgetown University’s/ISMA Senior Executive Leadership Program.

Jeff serves on the Workforce Center, Computer and Security Advisory Board of St. Louis University and is a former member of the International Security Management Association (ISMA) and the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). He was a member of the STL Area Corporate Security Leaders Organization, FBI’s Springfield, Illinois Business Working Group and held a DOJ security clearance prior to retiring. Jeff has been recognized and quoted in several Security Magazine articles and a world-renowned book on Executive Protection.
